So many people tell me they are too busy to exercise each day.
I can understand that our busy lives often push regular exercise to last place.
So here is a program with real health benefits and workouts of 15 minutes once a week or less.
It appears that workout intensity and workout volume are inversely proportional. This means the greater the intensity of workout, the less time you need to spend working out i.e. the less frequently you need to exercise.
It is called High intensity interval training (HIIT). It can significantly reduce the amount of exercise you need to do, cutting your hour-long workouts down to 15 minutes once a week or less.
Also as the intensity goes up, you require more recovery time between sessions, so the frequency of your workouts also goes down.
So you may only be able to do HIIT every 3-7 days at the most. You can do this type of routine on a exercise bicycle, a treadmill, or by sprinting.
A variation on this is done at the gym with a technique known as SuperSlow weight training. This is often the best way to work out as you age past 40.
In terms of health effects, HIIT may help improve a number of biomarkers associated with improved metabolic activity and good health.
