The basics of Chiropractic.
We all live our life through our nervous system because all our senses, emotions and thoughts are regulated by our brains.
The nervous system regulates and controls all functions of the body. It is split into 2 basic areas – the major system being the Autonomic System (automatic) eg. digestion and blood pressure regulation and the Somatic System the area you have active control over eg. Voluntary movement.
The nervous system consists of the brain, spinal cord, nerve roots and all of the nerves in the body. The spinal nerves exit between each of the 24 bones (vertebrae) of the spinal column. If any of these bones lose their normal function and alignment through trauma or injury, interference to the nervous system can occur causing pain or ill health, and we call this the vertebral subluxation complex.
The fact is that you can never function at your best if your nervous system is not functioning optimally. But how can you know if you are functioning at your best. Most people believe that pain is the only sign that can tell you something is wrong. The trouble is that pain is not a good indicator of a problem. A heart attack is sometimes the only pain a victim gets and that is too late. There are better signs than pain. Chiropractors use various tests to measure joint function and nerve function.
Gonstead Chiropractors assess and analyse the spine to determine any subluxations (spinal joint dysfunction) and restore proper joint motion. This enable the body to perform optimally.
Chiropractic is a safe, non-invasive method of dealing with the underlying causes of pain, ill health, discomfort and lack of mobility.
So if you would like to know how to ensure you are functioning at your best, why not have a thorough chiropractic examination and find out what’s really going on.
